Vernal Pools are seasonal areas of wetland which are formed by the winter snow and rain. The pools stay throughout spring . . . creating distinctive eco-systems.   This unique environment provides an important habitat for numerous plants and animals.

In my lithograph I have drawn a pair of lapwings with their acrobatic flight over the shallow water.
